Arctic StoryMaps from the Academy of Environmental Sciences

Students in the Academy of Environmental Sciences at Creekside High School had a wonderful experience decorating Float Boats and researching connections between the Arctic Ocean and their own community in Florida.

This is the second year 120 students participated in the project. This year, students also researched important links between changes in the Arctic Ocean and impacts to coastlines in their home state of Florida. Research topics included coastal resiliency, sea level rise, ocean circulation patterns, and impacts to biodiversity. Student research correlated with design of each Float Boat. Student research projects can be viewed in this ArcGIS StoryMap collection.

We are excited to see where the FloatBoats will travel in the Arctic Ocean this year!
