Three Generations and a Wooden Boat Find in the Westfjords
The Westfjords of Iceland is a remote, rugged place where an adventure unfolded. Guðni Hrafn Pétursson, whose family owns land here, is an ambassador for the Float Your Boat (FYB) program.
In 2025, Guðni and Dave, the program's founder, joined by Guðni’s father and grandfather, searched the coastline. It didn't take long to find a capsized boat from a Colorado school nestled in the rocks—a testament to the project’s reach in one of the world's most untouched places.

Swedish Icebreaker Oden Deploys Boats
The Icebreaker Oden reached the North Pole on August 16, 2025, as a part of the Canada-Sweden Arctic Ocean 2025 expedition. After mooring the boat to the ice, they deployed 450 boats from 13 institutions and an Ice Ball buoy. The boats were decorated by kids from several US schools, as well as by Marine Biology students from Gullmarsgymnasiet in Sweden and the crew and scientific team at the Oden. The deployment was a success, and the buoy is a recording at the North Pole!
